Bhutanese Bliss

Experience Bhutan on a 12-day guided motorcycle journey through high Himalayan passes, quiet valleys, remote villages, and historic cultural sites. The ride begins in Paro with a warm-up route to Drukgyel Dzong before crossing Chelela Pass into Haa Valley and continuing towards Thimphu.

From there, the journey moves through Dochula Pass to Punakha, then deeper into central Bhutan towards Bumthang, Mongar, Panbang, Trongsa, and Phobjekha Valley. Along the way, riders will visit landmarks such as Punakha Dzong, Trongsa Dzong, Kuenselphodrang Buddha, and the Black-Necked Crane Information Centre.

The route offers a strong mix of riding, culture, and landscape, from winding mountain roads and high passes to subtropical valleys near Panbang. Rest days and optional experiences include visits to Tang Valley, a local brewery, a Swiss cheese factory, relaxed valley rides, and a traditional hot stone bath.

The journey concludes with the iconic hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery, followed by a farewell evening in Paro. Designed for riders who want more than just distance, this tour offers a rich, scenic, and memorable way to experience Bhutan.

Warm-Up Ride (Distance 30 km) Altitude: 2280m above sea level.

  • Your adventure in Bhutan begins with a breathtaking flight over the Himalayas, where you may glimpse Mt. Everest and other famous peaks. Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, the Knight Motor Tours Tours team will greet you and transfer you to your hotel in Paro.

    After a welcome briefing on road rules, riding etiquette, and safety measures, you’ll embark on a gentle introductory ride to Drukgyel Dzong (30km round trip). In the evening, enjoy a leisurely stroll through Paro town, soaking in the local atmosphere and getting ample rest for the exciting adventures that await you.

  • Distance 185km (6 hrs) Chelela Pass 3988m & Haa valley 2280m above sea level.

    We will depart from Paro, beginning our journey toward Chelela Pass, ascending to 3,988 m. Riding on the Bonday-Haa Road, Single lean about 70km generally welled maintained.

    After lunch, ride to Thimphu with sightseeing at Lhakhang Karpo build in 7th century and continueing ride along the Chhudzom-Haa Road followed by the Phuntsholing-Thimphu highway (A48). Enjoy an evening stroll with dinner out to experience nightlife of Bhutanese.

  • Distance 70 km 2hrs. Altitude: 1300m above sea level

    With our exprence and feedback from our previous riders, we kept today as a short ride and more ideas will be shared by the Tour leader.

    1st Morning sightseeing Kuenselphodrang – where the Seating largest Buddha statue in the country is perched on the hillock, overlooking the magnificent Thimphu valley.

    2nd Takin Preserve, Bhutan’s national animal, which is a unique blend of goat and cow and known for its distinctive appearance with the story of famous lam Drukpa kuenley (The Divine Madman) 

    After sightseeing departs for Punakha taking Semtokha-Trashigang High way that climbs gently through the forest of pine and comes across Dochula Pass (3,150m). This pass often offers panoramic views of the Himalayan Mountain ranges, especially on clear winter days. The beauty of the place is further enhanced by the Druk Wangyel Chortens, a total of 108 stupas.
    In the late afternoon, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, Bhutan’s most beautiful fortress.

  • Distance 200 km (6 hrs) Altitude: 2600m above sea level.

    Before breakfast, those who wants want’s to do early moning vist to Chimi Lhakhang in van can be discuss with Tour leader and after breakfast we head south following the river, then divide towards Pele La pass (3,420m ASL) with winding mountain roads and ever-changing landscapes. Before approaching to Pass will have a coffee break at Nobding village and after the pass down in the valley we will do short break at Chendebji Choeten.  

    Lunch will be at the popular Willing Café, then we continue toward Bumthang.

  • This halt day open plans for all the individual, those who like’s to rest or do 2hr ride day trip to Tang valley and visit Ogyen Choling have lunch there or visit Local brewery, Swiss Cheese factory in afternoon.

  • Distance 190 km (6 hrs) Altitude: 1600m above sea level.

    Ride through the stunning Ura Valley followed by a coffee break at Dessup Café on the new highway, then Cross Thrashing La Pass (3,750 m) — the 2nd highest pass of the trip followed by lunch at Sangor and photonstop at Naming Brak and descending to Mongar.

  • Distance 175 km (7 hrs) Altitude: 350m above sea level.

    Depart from Mongar in the early morning to enjoy cooler temperatures and minimal traffic. As you follow the road towards Gyelpozhing, take in the scenic views of terraced fields and lush hills along the way. After passing through the small town of Gyelpozhing, the road to Namlam becomes a vital route for local traffic and attracts visitors eager to explore the stunning natural beauty of the area.

    However, while the road provides essential connectivity, it also presents several challenges and dangers, particularly in sections that navigate steep cliffs without guardrails. Among local riders, this stretch of approximately 70 kilometers is considered one of the most challenging roads in the country.

    Upon arriving in Panbang, a remote and rarely visited region near the Indian border, check into a tented lodge surrounded by pristine nature. This is one of the best accommodation options available, and we kindly ask for your understanding as the service here is quite basic.

  • Distance 175 km (6 hrs) Altitude: 2200m above sea level.

    Ride northward through lush subtropical valleys back into Bhutan’s central highlands. Stop for coffee at Tingtingbi Café, followed by lunch

  • Distance 80 km (2.5 hrs) Altitude: 3000m above sea level.

    Begin the day with a visit to the imposing Trongsa Dzong, once the political heart of Bhutan. Continue riding into the stunning Phobjekha Valley, famous as the winter habitat of the endangered Black-Necked Cranes.

    Visit the Crane Information Center, relaxed evening joy ride through the valley is the open option.

  • Distance 185 km (6 hrs) Altitude: 2300m above sea level.

    A scenic return ride through Bhutan’s western region. Riding back on the same road but in a different direction, which also provides a different experience. Before we end our ride, we will have lunch at the famous farmhouse on the way. After lunch, it really feels emotional as it will be the last 50 km ride of the tour, where we will end in Thimphu with a small celebration at the garage.

    Later, a van will take you to Paro, where a traditional hot stone bath awaits you, followed by a cultural program and dinner.

  • A true highlight of any journey to Bhutan is the hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest. This sacred Buddhist site is dramatically perched about 900 metres above the Paro Valley, offering breathtaking panoramic views. The trail to the monastery winds through pine forests scented with rhododendrons and junipers, with colourful prayer flags fluttering along the path. The hike typically takes 2 to 3 hours each way, depending on pace, and passes several scenic viewpoints where travellers can rest and enjoy the surrounding mountains. Visiting Taktsang Monastery provides not only a spiritual experience but also a rewarding adventure that captures the essence of Bhutan’s natural and cultural beauty.

    After the hike, rest for a while to replenish your energy for the evening getaway.
